“Hilariously funny wildlife documentary with amazing close-up photography of garden creatures”

Your average backyard garden may look tranquil and serene on the outside, but what lurks beneath will truly amaze you - as Leslie Nielsen is about to discover.

Comedian Leslie Nielsen narrates a truly unique introduction to the world of insects in National Geographic’s The Savage Garden.
Using state-of-the art cinematography, National Geographic filmmakers capture dramatic confrontational scenes amidst the deceiving tranquillity of an average flower, herb, and vegetable garden.

As Nielsen strolls among the flowers, herbs and vegetables, there’s a war for survival raging around him. From dangerous daddy longlegs and ferocious fire ants, to an eight-eyed jumping spider in a wrestling match with a belligerent bee. There's even a Top Gun-style air battle between a praying mantis and a bat.
Leslie Nielsen himself says of all this commotion: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the garden!”.

In this funny natural history comedy, National Geographic filmmakers use state-of-the-art cinematography to reveal what the world looks like from the insect’s point of view. Clever use of time-lapse photography shows the full impact of the natural world on Nielsen’s garden.

The cameras zoom in on all the minute details, providing beautiful close-up footage of spiders, caterpillars, aphids, ants, tiger beetles, bees, earwigs, frogs, bats, burying beetles, etc.
There is also plenty of action footage, with shrews battling for supremacy, black widow spiders, a garden snake, a family of raccoons, a heron and a host of insects all fighting for survival.
