“Porpoises are elusive creatures, rarely seen and barely studied, unlike their larger cousins, dolphins and whales, and through their eyes we live life in the fast lane”

The harbour porpoise is one of the smallest cetaceans compared to other cetaceans like the whales and dolphins. Once a common sight among the coast of the northern hemisphere, they are now an endangered species and are in need of rescue.

This is the first ever documentary about porpoises, the smallest members of the whale family. By following the struggles of two porpoise calves on opposite sides of the world, we see the dramatic lives of these little whales.

Meet Nisa, a female porpoise in Norway. From the day of her birth, she has to face predatory killer whales and is bullied by dolphins, who beat their smaller relatives to death.
Off the North American coast, Fundy and his mother have problems of their own – humans. We watch the dramatic rescue efforts to free trapped porpoises from fisherman's traps.

In this documentary we discover the many dangers they face on their tough journey to adulthood and the efforts made by conservationists and fishermen to end needless porpoise deaths.

This DVD is accompanied by a beautifully illustrated 24-page hardback reference book. Watch the close-up wildlife film and at the same time read the book to learn about habitats, diet, life cycle and more. The book is packed with intriguing facts, illustrations, photography and a 'Test your knowledge' quiz.
