“A mesmerising film, which charts the incredible relationships between sharks and dolphins in this unique marine environment”
Shark Central follows specialist underwater cameraman Bob Cranston and his team of divers as they explore the waters of Rangiroa, an atoll in the South Pacific.
This is the extraordinary, award-winning story of a tiny corner of French Polynesia, where a huge abundance of sharks have a unique relationship with the resident group of bottlenose dolphins living in the midst of them - two creatures traditionally thought of as adversaries.
In this island’s depths, sharks amass, not just one kind, but a multitude of species literally shoaling in their hundreds. Watch in amazement as sharks by the 100’s pass by Cranston’s lens, confirming Rangiroa’s reputation as an underwater predator’s paradise.
For the divers most of the sharks here pose no real threat, but Bob is confronted by the potentially lethal oceanic tiger and giant hammerhead sharks.
Above all though, we catch a glimpse of a unique habitat and share the secrets of the Rangiroa Atoll.
This DVD is accompanied by a beautifully illustrated 24-page hardback reference book. Watch the close-up wildlife film and at the same time read the book to learn about habitats, diet, life cycle and more. The book is packed with intriguing facts, illustrations, photography and a 'Test your knowledge' quiz.
