“The Zambezi River is home to one of the richest diversities of wildlife in the world, as it flows through several beautiful habitats on its long journey to the Indian Ocean”
The Zambezi is one of the largest river systems in Africa, stretching for over 2,700km and spanning six countries. This film takes us deep into the 'Dark Continent', retracing the footsteps of the great explorers of the past.
From the mountains of Angola to the magnificent Victoria Falls, the Zambezi will carry us past some of the greatest natural spectacles on Earth and introduce us to the dramas of the animals that live both above and below the surface of this life-giving river.
Starting in the highlands of Zambia, storm clouds indicate the end of the dry season. As trickles of rain form gentle streams, which join into a raging torrent, the source of the Zambezi takes shape.
Seven hundred miles further downstream we will encounter the people are still relying on this magnificent river, Zambezi: Force of Life.
We will follow this infamous river, as Livingston once did, and reveal the stunning diversity of life that inhabits its shores, from kingfishers to elephants and crocodiles to baboons - this is Zambezi.
