“This amazing and little-understood master of the far north will stand up to a bear or a pack of wolves, and win”
Known as the ‘phantom of the northern forests’, wolverines live only in isolated areas, and in turn, are rarely seen by humans. This captivating wildlife adventure tries to uncover the mysteries surrounding a unique and endangered species.
In a world under constant scrutiny, few large animals in North America have managed to elude our perpetual surveillance. One animal that remains a mystery to layman and scientists alike is the wolverine, which lives in such isolation that few people will ever come in contact with one.
They live solitary lives and get together briefly only to breed. Their isolation, coupled with a slow breeding rate, keeps their numbers at naturally low levels, which are steadily diminishing worldwide.
The task of finding and following a wolverine is daunting-and dangerous. An angry wolverine can run down a man and inflict serious, even fatal wounds.
In this film, the wolverine stands its ground against animals many times its own size, including a pack of hungry wolves.
This multiple award-winning movie, filmed mainly in Montana, USA, brings us closer to an animal that most of us will never see.
This DVD is accompanied by a beautifully illustrated 24-page hardback reference book. Watch the close-up wildlife film and at the same time read the book to learn about habitats, diet, life cycle and more. The book is packed with intriguing facts, illustrations, photography and a 'Test your knowledge' quiz.
