Zoe, a fearless little girl, marches by iguanas in the Galapagos Islands, about 600 miles west of Ecuador. When she arrived there with her parents, Australian filmmakers David Parer and Elizabeth Parer-Cook, Zoe was still in nappies. “She learned to swim with sea lions and saw them being born,” recalls Elizabeth.
Her parents David and Liz followed and studied the iguanas of the Galapagos on land and in the sea. In this film we examine the lives of these distinctive and unusual lizards as they bask on land or dive beneath the waves to feed.

The lives of these giant lizards, called land iguanas, are intimately linked with the archipelago’s most active volcano on the island of Fernania. This is the only place where iguanas - fascinating prehistoric reptiles - swarm both land and sea.
